RSSHow 7 Dollars, Free WordPress and a Few Hours is Worth Thousands of Dollars in Commissions
If you are reading this blog, you probably know that I create my own single property websites using WordPress. Since I do a lot of these, I have an VPS (Virtual Private Server) to make it quick and easy hosted and www.1and1.com. The dirty truth is that it isn’t really very hard to do it and it can pay large dividends in future listings, exceptional marketing and web farming for more listings in neighborhoods that will help you demonstrate that you are the marketing king or queen for that neighborhood.
We just did 2 new ones; one for Crooked Creek - we are going for “Crooked Creek homes for sale” because as I searched for a domain name for a listing we have in this golf and country club neighborhood, I found crookedcreekhomesforsale.com was still available. Many neighborhoods in communities all around the country have domain names like this that are still available. We have no links to it, it’s only two weeks old and ranks #4 on Google for “crooked creek homes for sale”. We have a sign rider with the domain name on it to help reinforce that we are serious about marketing in the neighborhood. In short order, this single property website will be #1 for the term as we add more relevant content about the neighborhood so that it becomes the best resource. The other one we were even more fortunate to find - we will be marketing “brookhaven homes for sale” with it. Unlike Crooked Creek, this is a city - with a good bit of traffic to it so if we can get this website to rank high, we can really add a superior service for our clients in Brookhaven, but, pick up some new ones along the way and over time, we will add more keyword phrases to rank for more traffic and more marketing value for future clients. It’s not hard if you care about it and you try.
Why would I tell you about this and let you know that it really is easy? Simple. Because it’s probably the best thing that you can do to separate you from your local competition. It’s cheap, doesn’t take very long and can pay rewards for years in terms of more listings, sales and clients! I’ve talked about the traffic these sites can generate many times before so I won’t go into that again, but, when I sit down with a seller, I’m almost certain that I will always be able to demonstrate that I can out market everyone else they might interview.
Do you think the agent for Crooked Creek that owns the domain crookedcreekhomesforsale.com has thought about marketing in the neighborhood? Don’t you think that would look good on the sign in the front yard? Absolutely! and when you walk in to your next listing appointment, you can show them statistics that demonstrate that you are the expert marketer. Of course, this won’t necessarily get you the listing - you still need to be competent and you still have to connect with and understand your potential client, but, all things being equal, I will win the listing because I can out market you. We have done this time and time again and it will continue to be more and more effective as more and more sellers understand the importance of internet marketing. We have been compiling domain names for some time now and will continue to do so.
So, get on board, Dave Smith has been writing about them for years. He does them a little different than I do, but, the premise is the same. Use WordPress, host yourself and you can improve your marketing ability in a real way to add more value than your competition. There are tutorials - maybe I’ll write a real estate tutorial and re-release my single property website template for people to start with.
